Lycée Français may extend CEO’s contract another year; won’t offer 3-year-old pre-K next year

The board of Lycée Français de la Nouvelle-Orléans will consider a recommendation to keep interim CEO L. Keith Bartlett on for an additional year at a special meeting this week.

After a series of nationwide CEO searches beginning early this year left the French-curriculum charter school without a leader, Bartlett came on in an interim capacity in late June.

Board member Erin Greenwald said that when the CEO search committee met last week, it decided to recommend extending Bartlett’s contract until June 30, 2015.

The board also decided last week to discontinue its pre-kindergarten class for 3-year-olds next year.

That decision came three weeks after a contentious meeting at which the board eliminated the program then voted it back in after parents complained.

On Nov. 11, though, the board unanimously approved Bartlett’s recommendation to end the costly program, which some say creates an unfair entry point into the school for students who can afford it.
