Firefighters battle blaze at Metairie car dealership during Carnival parade

.

Jefferson Parish firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze at a Metairie car dealership on Monday night while a Carnival parade rolled nearby, according to officials.

No injuries were reported during the fire at Land Rover New Orleans on Veterans Memorial Boulevard, in between Richland Avenue and Lake Villa Drive, East Jefferson Fire Protection District Chief Joseph Greco said. Firefighters responded to the scene about 6:30 p.m., while the Carnival Krewe of Pandora paraded down Veterans Boulevard, Greco said.

The fire was under control by about 8:15 p.m., Greco said. No injuries were reported, and investigators had not immediately determined a cause for the fire, said Greco, who added he had no details on the extent of damage to the business.

Though Greco said he had no other information, WDSU-TV reported the fire apparently began inside the sales room.
