Two New Orleans police officers put on suspension following DWI charges

The New Orleans Police Department put two of its officers on emergency suspension Saturday, according to a NOPD press release.

Officer Orlynthia Miller and officer Dylen Pazon were arrested in two separate DWI traffic incidents early Saturday morning.

Miller was off-duty and driving her personal vehicle around 2:09 a.m. on I-10 near Crowder Boulevard when she apparently struck another moving vehicle from behind. Following the collision, Miller's vehicle veered off the interstate, through a fence and came to a stop on the South I-10 Service Road.

Around 3:54 a.m., Pazon was stopped and arrested while driving off-duty in his personal vehicle on the Causeway Bridge. He was charged with DWI, speeding, careless operation of a vehicle and no proof of insurance.

"These individuals made a decision to put themselves and everyone around them in danger, and there is no excuse for their actions," said NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison. "We will absolutely not tolerate this type of behavior."
