Duo indicted in killing of 15-year-old Westwego boy

A Jefferson Parish grand jury has indicted two men on second-degree murder charges in the October killing of Kevin Thomas, a 15-year-old Westwego boy found shot to death at the Tanglewood Apartments.

Chamid J. Davis and Donald Hughes are both 17 years old but were 16 years old on Oct. 19, when Thomas was shot four times in the back.

Neighbors told police they heard what might have been an argument before gunshots rang out.

Davis and Hughes are each being held in jail on a $750,000 bond.

The case has been allotted to Judge Henry Sullivan in 24th Judicial District Court in Gretna.

Also indicted by the grand jury Thursday was Charles Turner, 36, for aggravated rape of a victim under 13.

Turner’s bond was set at $750,000. His case will be heard by Judge Cornelius Regan.
