New Orleans police investigating double shooting on Tchoupitoulas Street Wednesday night

Update, 8 a.m. Thursday: New Orleans police are investigating a double shooting that occurred late Wednesday near Tchoupitoulas and Austerlitz streets.

Around 11:15 p.m., officers arrived at the scene to find the two victims, both 18 years old, who jumped out of a Crown Victorian and started running, the New Orleans Police Department said in a preliminary offense log.

Bullet casings were found in the 500 block of Austerlitz Street, and a gun was also found, police said.

One of the men is in surgery, police said. Their conditions were not immediately known.

Officials are investigating a double shooting on Tchoupitoulas Street in New Orleans, according to a New Orleans Police Department press release.

The shooting took place around 11:12 p.m. Wednesday night in the 3900 block of Tchoupitoulas St.

One male victim was shot in the back and another male victim was shot in the neck, the press release says.

EMS transported both victims to a local hospital. Their condition is unknown at this point and the investigation is open and ongoing.
