It has been rescheduled for a week later because of predicted rainy weather. The parade, now scheduled for April 13, starts and finishes at the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center at 8245 W. Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette. It begins at 11 a.m. with the Irish/Italian Marching Club, whose members hand out carnations. The parade includes 46 double-decker floats and more than 30 bands and other groups. Parade officials said they will throw about 300,000 pounds of produce. The parade turns at Dr. Meraux Boulevard and heads east to Ventura Drive. It then makes a U-turn back to the civic center. This year’s royalty includes King Timmy Juneau and Queen Judge Jeanne Juneau. U.S. Sen. David Vitter, R-La., is the grand marshal.
