St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office receives award for 2013 budget St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office receives award for 2013 budget St. Tammany Bureau April 05, 2014 Comments The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award of the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, a spokesman said. The office was one of 11 agencies in Louisiana nominated for the award and the only one in St. Tammany Parish to receive it, according to Capt. George Bonnett. The Sheriff’s Office was notified in late March of the award, which is based on how well the agency’s budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communication tool. The award was for the 2013 fiscal year budget. The Sheriff’s Office fiscal year 2013 began July 1 and will end June 30. Sheriff Jack Strain praised the employees who prepared the budget. “Deputy Chief (for Administration) Danell Gerchow and her team do an outstanding job each year to ensure our budget is balanced, that it meets our goal of excellence in law enforcement and community service,” Strain said.
