The board overseeing Louisiana’s community and technical colleges appointed Debbie Lea as interim chancellor of Delgado Community College, in New Orleans.
She fills a vacancy created Feb. 19 when former Delgado Chancellor Monty Sullivan was installed as president of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System.
Sullivan praised Lea’s appointment in a prepared statement released Thursday.
“She is well respected by the students, the faculty, and staff and the community,” he said. “She is a proven leader with a long and successful track record.”
Before taking over as interim chancellor, Lea served as vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost at Delgado.
According to the news release, she has a master’s degree from the University of New Orleans, bachelor’s degree from William Carey University, in Mississippi, associate degree from Delgado and diploma from Charity School of Radiologic Technology.
