A two-alarm fire destroyed an abandoned residence in Treme on Saturday afternoon, according to the New Orleans Fire Department.
Smoldering remains were all that were left of the building at North Prieur and St. Louis streets.
According to Capt. Herman Franklin, firefighters were called to the scene at 3:57 p.m. after a passing fire truck noticed the blaze.
He said the building had already collapsed when they arrived.
No one was in the building at the time.
Franklin said 55 firefighters were dispatched to the scene and the fire was under control at 4:49 p.m.
One firefighter suffered a minor back strain.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
