All Saints’ Day observations

Archbishop Gregory Aymond will celebrate All Saints’ Day Mass at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 4640 Canal St. Blessing of the graves will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery. Other archdiocese and private cemeteries will mark All Saints’ Day, Friday, and All Souls’ Day, Saturday, with blessings of the graves and Masses. Funeral homes have events planned as well.

The following archdiocese cemeteries will hold ceremonies on All Saints’ Day:

St. Louis No. 1 Cemetery, Basin at St. Louis Street: Blessing of the graves at 2 p.m.

St. Louis No. 2 Cemetery, Claiborne Avenue between St. Louis and Iberville Streets: Blessing of the graves at 2:15 p.m.

St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery, 3421 Esplanade Ave.: Blessing of the graves at 10 a.m.

St. Roch Cemetery, 1725 St. Roch Ave.: Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Anala and Our Lady Star of the Sea Choir at 10 a.m. Blessing of the graves will follow. In case of inclement weather, services will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 1835 St. Roch Ave.

St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery, 1925 Soniat St.: Blessing of the graves, 11:30 a.m.

St. Joseph Cemetery, 2200 Washington Ave.: Blessing of the graves, noon.

Other funeral homes and cemeteries:

Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home and Cemeteries, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd.: All Saints’ Day Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Gregory M. Aymond and Monsignor Andrew Taormina at 3 p.m. Friday. Refreshments will follow.

Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd.: All Saints’ Day Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Michael O’Rourke, pastor of St. Dominic Church in Lakeview, at 1 p.m. Friday. Refreshments will be served after the Mass.

St. Bernard Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., St. Bernard: All Saints’ Day Mass will be led by the Rev. Lance Campo at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home’s chapel. Refreshments will be served after the Mass.

All Souls’ Day outdoor Mass in Vietnamese will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Nghiem Van Nguyen will lead the Mass in the cemetery, near the mausoleum.

Mount Olivet Cemetery and Mausoleum, 4000 Norman Mayer Ave., Algiers: Blessing of the cemetery at 11 a.m. Friday, led by the Rev. Willie Bradford Jr. Barbecue lunch to follow. Music will be provided by the Vernon Ward Experience. A balloon release will take place at 1 p.m.

Mothe Funeral Home Westlawn Cemetery: All Saints’ Day will be commemorated with the recitation of the Rosary at 2 p.m. Friday in the Horseshoe Gardens of Westlawn Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Ave., Gretna.
