WYES in New Orleans will re-air its new documentary “MRGO-ing, Going, Gone?” (cable Channel 12) at 11 p.m. Saturday.
The Mississippi River Gulf Outlet began in the mid-20th century as a navigational channel, a shortcut to the Port of New Orleans on the Mississippi River. Instead, MRGO contributed to the loss of the ecosystem that historically protected coastal communities and the city of New Orleans from storm surge devastation.
The documentary focuses on the lessons learned from MRGO, particularly during and after Hurricane Katrina, a news release said.
