Mar 3, 2014 17:48 Hermes ball celebrates krewe’s diamond jubilee Hermes ball celebrates krewe’s diamond jubilee Shelby Elizabeth Sanderford, queen of Hermes, 2014 Advocate staff report March 03, 2014 Comments “The Diamond Jubilee” was the glittering marquee attraction for the Krewe of Hermes on the occasion of its 75 anniversary at the 2014 Hermes Grand Ball at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Thursday, Feb. 27. The venerable krewe, which will parade through the streets of Uptown New Orleans tonight, will carry out the theme with floats from street processions past. Reigning over the festivities as the queen of the anniversary ball was Miss Shelby Elizabeth Sanderford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Britton Sanderford. Her majesty’s maids were Misses Gabrielle Catherine Broders, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Jacob Broders; Mary Elizabeth DeRouen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Dominic DeRouen; Katherine Marie Eagan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Quinn Hugh Eagan; Hallie Reid Harris, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. George M. Harris Jr.; Jennifer Rae Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Rhea Jones; Courtney Michaelle Keller, daughter and stepdaughter of Mr. Michael Courtney Keller and stepdaughter and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip A. Guests of the krewe enjoyed a champagne reception in the Chemin Royale, followed by the presentation in the Grand Ballroom and the supper dance in the Grand Salon. The Jimmy Maxwell Orchestra provided the music. For the supper dance, the music alternated between Jimmy Maxwell’s Orchestra and the Starlight Orchestra of New York City.
